what does love mean to your heart?

if you could pause and speak to your heart,
how might you respond to

"what does love mean to you?"

beyond the fluttering of your heart, beyond the butterflies and rainbows, what does love truly mean?

Lebanese-American poet, Kahlil Gibran once said

"For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you.
Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
so shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth"

in my experience, love is a balance of
brokenness and aliveness
neither is greater than the other

and to truly experience love
is to hold both in the crevice of your heart
